I am a professional musician and teach at an “arts integration” school. I teach music and use music to teach other subjects. I’ve been teaching drumming as a way to help our children read better. I’ve done one research project on this for the Kennedy Center’s CETA (Changing Education Through the Arts) and have continued to explore this connection in my music classes and special reading groups. I’ve also developed and taught lessons connecting science, social studies and some math.
